2024 GOLD LEAF ON GLASS WORKSHOP

Location: 9104 SE Woodstock Blvd. Portland, OR USA  Dates: October 18th-20th, 2024. Class from 10am-4pm  

Workshop fee: $1,100 per student, only 4 spaces available.

Weber noelbweber.com  We  are pleased to announce a 3 day intensive gold leaf workshop at Studio  Sign Co. in Portland, Oregon with renowned lettering & gilding  artist Noel B. Weber.  We will be teaching basic to advanced reverse  glass gilding and painting techniques by creating a beautiful "PORTLAND"  16"x18" glass panel with artwork by Noel.  We will also have smaller  side projects to explore additional techniques throughout the workshop.   Each student will take home their spectacular glass panel projects with  numerous gilded and painted techniques as well as the knowledge and  inspiration to continue creating.  

What you'll learn:

-  Terminology, tools and materials for gilding

- Differences of karats of gold and other types of metal leaf

- How to properly clean glass surfaces for decoration

- Differences of matte and mirror gold textures

- How to prepare and use water size for reverse glass gilding

- How and when to use various oil sizes for reverse glass gilding

- How to lay leaf using a gilders tip and other methods

- How to use enamel sign paints and brushes

- Decorative glass painting techniques, blends, glazes, marbling - Mother of pearl application - Screen printing on glass

Materials provided in studio:

- Glass panels for workshop projects

- Tabletop easels to hold glass panels

- Screen printing equipment, inks, solvents etc.

- Enamel sign paint in various colors, blending mediums, reducers

- Artwork, patterns, demonstration materials

Student materials needed:

- Water size brush

- Gilders tip

- #0 thru 5 lettering brushes

- 3 books of 23k premium glass gold and 1 book of 16k pale gold loose

We will be covering several processes over this 3 day workshop, you can  expect to leave with a broader understanding of gold leaf on glass and  the excitement to continue creating on your own.  We will provide lunch  each day and there are several breakfast and dinner spots within walking  distance of the studio.
